Flash Fiction: Temptation

The pair had been making eyes at one another for months but tonight they’d taken it that one step further.

The time was set for eight o’clock. The setting, a dingy bar in the rough part of town. A place where prying eyes wouldn’t recognise them and their clandestine act. The two arrived separately but now, seated together in the quiet corner, they feel irresistibly pulled together.

Her breath is quick and his heart races. She can feel the heat of his hand resting gently on her knee. Even in the darkened room he can see the flush on her cheeks. The woman searches his eyes with a bright, imploring hope.

“Where does this lead?” She breathes quietly.

“Nowhere good,” he replies with a smile.

The man brings his hand to her chin and leans towards her. The woman closes her eyes and parts her soft lips.

Drawing close, the pair lean in and submit to their first temptatious kiss.

What is Flash Fiction?

Flash fiction is a genre of fiction, defined as a very short story. While there’s no set word count that separates flash fiction from more traditional short stories, flash fiction stories can be as short as a few words (while short stories typically run for several pages).

Flash fiction is also known as sudden fiction, short-short stories, micro-fiction, or micro-stories.
